Description
Resin is a polymer that acts as a medium for ion exchange. It is an insoluble matrix (or support structure) normally in the form of small (0.25–0.5 mm radius) microbeads, usually white or yellowish, fabricated from an organic polymer substrate.
A cation is an ion with a negative charge. Common cations include calcium, magnesium, iron and hydrogen. A cation resin such as the “WS” softening cartridges, the CGS softening resin or the C-107E heavy metal removal resin are all ones that exchange positive ions.
